Actress Isla Fisher was born to Scottish parents in Muscat, Oman where her father was working as a banker for the United Nation. She was raised in Australia, making her acting debut on Australian television. When she was young she appeared in several school productions and showed an early talent for acting. She appeared in a few commercials in Australia before making her big break into television.  She was raised with four brothers and had a very active and outdoorsy life in Perth that she speaks fondly of.

She started out with a role on the show Paradise Beach, then later took on the role of Shannon Reed in the popular Australian soap opera Home and Away. This role increased her fame and she has since appeared in a number of comedy films including Wedding Crashers, Scooby Doo, Hot Rod, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Definitely Maybe, Rango and Bachelorette. She also performed the voice-over of the character ‘The Tooth Fairy” in the children’s animated movie Rise of the Guardians, a film which came out in 2012.

She has made a number of appearances of other television shows besides Home and Away. For example she starred in the mini-series Oliver Twist and played a barmaid in Hearts and Bones. She was also given the MTV Movie Award for Best Newcomer in 2006 for her role in Wedding Crashers. Her petite frame and striking red hair give her a dramatic and eye-catching look that makes her stand out from many of the other actresses in Hollywood. When she played the role of Shaggy’s love interest in Scooby Doo she had to wear a blonde wig because Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne was supposed to be the only redhead in the movie.

In addition to her acting talent, she is also a writer and has published two best-selling novels, entitled “Bewitched” and “Seduced by Fame”. She wrote both of these books at the age of 18 with the help of her mother, who is a romance novelist. She admitted once in an interview that if she had not become successful as an actress her other career choice would have been to become a full-time writer.

Isla Fisher is married to English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who she met in Sydney Australia in 2004. She converted to Judaism to be with him, taking on the Hebrew name of Ayala. She told a British newspaper in 2005 that she loves Sacha Baron Cohen because he makes her laugh.  They have two children together, named Olive and Elula. She returned to working on filming Confessions of a Shopaholic in 2009 only four months after giving birth to her daughter.
